Description: Winter in 1953. The hardest year of the Stalin's period in Poland. Anna, a young nun, is removed from a prison in Gniezno to an abandoned fort where a bishop is imprisoned. He is an ex-parson of a parish that Anna once belonged to. Anna used to be deeply in love with him – it was her first great love -- but the priest could not accept that situation and escaped from Anna and her feelings for him. Afterwards, Anna entered the cloister.

Now she has to help the priest, and at the same time, to collaborate with an officer of the UB (a security service in the communist Poland) in order to find some information aggravating the imprisoned priest. The meeting of Anna and the priest after so many years evokes a panic in both of them.  Their behavior is attentively observed by the Commander. Anna cannot stand the pressure and signs a denouncement concerning the priest, and in this way passes a sentence on him.  She regains her freedom, but at the same time she loses everything – her love, her faith and her vocation.
