In 1995 in war-torn Bosnia, Sharkey, posing as a UNICEF official, is on a mission to rescue a young boy and take him out of the country safely. He picks up Vlado, an orphan who dreams of a better life. As they embark on their journey to freedom, they struggle with one another. However, in spite of themselves, they grow closer and closer, even if Sharkey is not what he claims to be.
