Faces of the Polish Cinema

A Photo Exhibition

As the words “The End” disappear from the screen, so do the images of the actors, sometimes even from our memories. With the thought of holding on to them longer than the projection of the film, Krzysztof Poraj-Kuczewski initiated this photographic exhibit called “The Faces of Polish Cinema.” It features photographs of twenty Polish actors in their film roles from recent years. The exhibit will be shown along with the 11th Polish Film Festival, which takes place November 1-10, 2002 at the Broadway Performance Hall. “Faces of the Polish Cinema” shows prominent actors with suberb careers in movies and theater. Some are also directors: Jerzy Stuhr, Andrzej Seweryn, Andrzej Lapicki, Daniel Olbrychski, and Janusz Gajos. Along side them is the somewhat younger generation, enjoyed by moviegoers for their splendid performances in contemporary roles: Katarzyna Figura, Zbigniew Zamachwski, Cezary Pazura. And the youngest generation: Izabela Scorupco, Alicja Bachleda-Corus, Michal Zebrowski, who most certainly display the brilliance of true stars. Presently we shall catch a glimpse of all of these actors as well as others, known from the movies as well as from their presence at our previous film festivals. We hope that the film-going audience will enjoy this somewhat different encounter with the “Faces of the Polish Cinema,” and that it will be remembered long after the words “The End” are dimmed.

Welcome!
