Synopsis: |
The post-war history of Zakaczawie, the accursed area of
Legnica on the Kaczawa River, is shown through Benek the Gypsy’s gang.
It starts during the years of political thaw following October 1956,
when the gang grows in might and importance until it reaches its peak of
success during the years of small stability and ends with the 1997
floods. The story is based on tales of local inhabitants who agreed to
the use of their authentic history. Most of the filming was done in the
legendary Kolejarz movie theater in Legnica. Recreated with reverence
and epic force the tale of ordinary life and large and small matters
intertwine in the movie creating a colorful chronicle of the fate of the
people of Zakaczawie. |
