This film tells the story of three Warsaw highschool graduates from the class of 1938, full of magnificent plans for the future and hopes and dreams about adult life. The protagonists enter adulthood when Poland faces the invasion of Nazi Germany. Confronting the harsh reality of their adult lives becomes a difficult lesson in patriotism.

The protagonists are based on real people and friends of the film’s screenwriter, Jerzy Stefan Stawinski.
