Seattle-Gdynia Sister City Association is proud to present the 19th Annual Seattle Polish Film Festival opening on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at SIFF Cinema at the Uptown in Lower Queen Anne (511 Queen Anne Ave N). The festival will feature the best picks from old classics as well as new releases, including independent films, animated movies, and documentaries. All Polish language films are subtitled in English.
This year's festival will open with the screening of Joanna directed by Feliks Falk. This movie describes the dramatic story of a young woman who hides and cares for a Jewish girl during World War II.
The Festival Reception for donors, sponsors, festival-pass holders, and VIP guests will be hosted at Ten Mercer starting at 4pm on Sunday, November 6th. The guests of honor will be the Director and Producer of Black Thursday, Antoni Krauze and Kazimierz Beer, respectively. Black Thursday tells the powerful story of the December 1970 strike against communist authority.
Other guests include Ewa Kasprzyk and Jakub Michalski, lead actress and producer of the controversial movie Snow Queen. Kasprzyk also stars in Career of Nikos Dyzma, a comedy about accidental success.

Festival passes are $60, tickets are $10, and both can be purchased at the door 20 minutes prior to show time. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via SIFF at www.siff.net. SIFF member ticket price is $5.
