Carte Blanche

Carte Blanche

(Carte Blanche)

Inspired by an incredible true story, Carte Blanche is a drama about a high school history teacher, who is expanding a lie, deciding to hide a progressive sight loss from everyone surrounding him – his colleagues, students, even the ones who really care about him, because of fear of losing his job and trying to save his dignity. Kacper, a beloved history teacher, begins to lose his sight. The medical diagnosis leaves little hope. Due to a genetic disorder he is faced with a very real possibility of permanent blindness. Initially heartbroken, he attempts to hide his health problems from his bosses driven by his desire to keep his job and to help his students with the end of school exams. The only person who knows about Kacper's problem is his best friend Wiktor, a bank manager. Meanwhile, Kacper, faced with his new situation and new challenges, enters a relation with his co-worker Ewa, and tries to help a rebel student Klara, who hides a secret of her own... Maciej Białek, the inspiration for Kacper, still teaches in a Lublin high school and is highly respected and loved by his students. The main character in Carte Blanche is played by Andrzej Chyra, one of the most acclaimed Polish actors.
