The Second World War under Nazi rule. A young woman whose husband has gone missing during the war is taking care of a small Jewish girl. Having the girl in her flat is a source of constant fear for Joanna. Soon someone informs the authorities on her. During the inspection, she catches the eye of a German officer who discovers her secret.
