It is 1939. The world is descending into chaos. Thousands of Poland's most distinguished citizens are taken captive by the Soviet Union, where they are subjected to relentless ideological indoctrination as part of a larger plan.
An ambitious Soviet agent makes it his personal mission to break the will of one particular prisoner, a world-renowned young pianist and respected leader among his fellow captives. If he can be forced to surrender his convictions, many others may follow.
